GREAT Reviews!

THE WATER PLAYS is a DC Theatre Scene 5-star pick of the Fringe!

"Bathyphobia strikes the perfect balance between humor and fear..."
"Nick Jordan (Cam) and Tiffany Garfinkle (Dreah) are both excellent. Both performances are detailed and interesting..."
"The staging for [Dolphinless] was simple and beautiful- utilizing lengths of black fabric and black clad members of the ensemble. A play that takes place in both the ocean and land bound dreams is a challenge for any director, but Gwen Grastorf rose to the challenge."
"The true star of The Water Plays is the writing. Each play is detailed, natural, and well crafted."
"Additional congratulations are due to Sound Designer/ Composer Sam Cooper... for his beautiful original music."

And from City Paper's Fringe and Purge blog:

"[Bathyphobia is a] poignant and funny rant..."
"Dolphinless, the show’s most complex, visually inventive, and strongest portion..."
[Note that the reviewer's opinion of the second play was probably affected by run-time and visibility issues which have been resolved.]
"In all three plays, Abelman floods his scripts with water-bound metaphors: the water as escape, as limitless possibility, as inescapable wasteland, dangerous and infinite. He balances the symbolism with enough humor to keep it from taking itself too seriously..."
"See It If: The melancholy-yet-menacing siren song of the sea calls to you."

It's Opening Night!

The Water Plays opens TONIGHT at 10:45 p.m. at The Shop at Fort Fringe!

We had a great tech on Wednesday, bringing together all of the sound, lighting, and costume elements for the first time, and I have to say, the show looks INCREDIBLE. Am I biased? Maybe. But it was so exciting to see all of the hard work of our actors and designers paying off, and the result is a show you do not want to miss!

Don't forget, you can buy your tickets at
http://shows.capfringe.org/shows/404-Babel-Theatre-The-Water-Plays.html

We'll see you at The Shop!
